Privacy policy

We respect your privacy. We never sell your data. Anything we collect is used only to operate this site, and the site is built so there is very little to collect in the first place.

Who this site is for

soccermyths is built for Brazil (Portuguese), Latin America (Spanish — Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Uruguay and surrounding markets), and the English-speaking Americas. It is not actively marketed to or targeted at the European Union or the United Kingdom. Visitors from those regions may still arrive through search or shared links, and we honor reasonable data requests on a best-effort basis — see «If you are in the EU or UK» below.

What we collect

Very little. We do not run user accounts, we do not store personal profiles, and we do not load advertising trackers or pixel tags. The only measurement tool on the site is Plausible, a cookieless aggregate analytics service. A handful of functional cookies remember your preferences across visits. Everything below this paragraph is the detail behind that summary.

Cookies we set

All cookies set by soccermyths.com are functional or strictly necessary. They exist to remember a preference you set or to remember that you have dismissed a UI element, and they never leave the site. (1) «locale» — your language preference, expires after 1 year. (2) «country» — the shopping region you pick from the header country selector, expires after 1 year. (3) «geo_country» — a fallback shopping region derived from your IP when you have not picked one, expires after 1 hour. (4) «tz» — your preferred timezone for kickoff display, expires after 1 year. (5) «privacy_ack» — records that you have seen the privacy notice, expires after 1 year. You can clear any of these in your browser settings at any time; the site will continue to work, it will simply re-detect or re-ask.

Analytics — Plausible

We use Plausible (plausible.io), a privacy-friendly analytics service that does not use cookies and does not collect personally identifiable information. Plausible counts page views in aggregate, records the page URL and referring URL, derives an approximate country from the IP address before discarding the address itself, and classifies the device as desktop, tablet, or mobile. Plausible is a data processor for this site. Aggregate reports are retained by Plausible for up to 24 months.

Affiliate links and outbound cookies

Some pages include affiliate links to merchants — primarily Amazon Associates today, with Magalu Parceiro, Mercado Livre, Awin and Impact pending. When you click an affiliate link you leave soccermyths.com and arrive at the merchant's own site, where the merchant sets its own cookies under its own privacy policy. We have no control over those cookies and they are not the same as the ones listed above. The affiliate tag in the link tells the merchant which site referred you so that, if you buy something, we are credited with a small commission at no extra cost to you.

Retention

Functional cookies expire on the schedule listed above (one year for most, one hour for the geo fallback). Plausible aggregate reports are retained for up to 24 months. We do not retain any personal records because we do not collect any.

Your rights — in general

Because we do not store personally identifiable information and do not maintain accounts, in most cases there is no individual record to access, correct, port, or delete. You can clear functional cookies in your browser at any time. If you have a specific request — for example, you believe data about you appears in a player profile and want it reviewed — use the contact below.

If you are in Brazil (LGPD)

Brazilian residents have the rights set out in the Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD), including the right of confirmation, access, correction, anonymization or deletion of unnecessary data, portability, information about parties with whom your data has been shared, and the right to revoke consent. The data controller for soccermyths is Hamilton José; the contact for LGPD requests is privacy@soccermyths.com. The Brazilian data-protection authority is the Autoridade Nacional de Proteção de Dados (ANPD), at anpd.gov.br.

If you are in Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Peru or another LATAM country

Most LATAM jurisdictions grant rights of access, correction, deletion, and opposition to processing under their national data-protection laws (Mexico — LFPDPPP; Argentina — Ley 25.326; Colombia — Ley 1581; Chile — Ley 19.628; Peru — Ley 29.733; and equivalents elsewhere). To exercise any of these, write to the contact below. We respond on a best-effort basis and will identify any record we hold, even if that record is most likely none.

If you are in the EU or UK

This site is not actively targeted at the EU or UK markets and is not calibrated to the GDPR / UK GDPR. If you arrived here through search or a shared link and want to exercise GDPR-style rights, write to the contact below. We will honor reasonable requests, but we do not maintain an EU representative and we do not operate the consent infrastructure that a site actively marketing into the EU would be expected to operate.

Contact

For any privacy or data-protection question — LGPD or otherwise — write to privacy@soccermyths.com. We try to reply within 30 days. If your message concerns a real person mentioned on the site and you believe a claim is unsourced or wrong, please include the URL of the page and the specific claim so we can act quickly.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy in a meaningful way, the «Last updated» date at the top of the page changes, the prior version stays in the public git history of the site, and a short note appears on the disclaimer page. Minor wording edits or typo fixes are not separately announced.
